Happy Thanksgiving! A couple weeks ago in Weight Watchers we were asked, do you want to gain weight, stay the same or lose weight by December 31st this year. Obviously, there were no takers for the "gain weight" option. I think it was about 50/50 for the other two. I am in the "lose weight" camp. At the time I had figured I wanted to lose 10lbs by New Years - to hit the 90lbs lost milestone. I am still in the losers camp but am thinking that that goal may have been a titch lofty. I lost a half of a pound last week - I worked out a lot and ate within reason. I actually thought the weight loss would be higher for the week but I understand working out and muscle soreness can cause water retention so maybe it was a bigger week than the scale indicated. Either way, I'm very happy that I lost any weight over the biggest eating holiday of the year. So I'll be happy to lose another 5lbs by Dec 31 but would be elated to hit the first goal by losing 10lbs by then.
Last weekend I had a "date". I use quotations on the word date because I'm not really sure if my evening Saturday qualifies as an actual date, since I think that term is very flexible these days. This particular person I met on eHarmony. This was the first time we met and also the first time we talked on the phone (setting up the meeting time). We grabbed a slice of pizza prior to seeing some music at The Fine Line. After the Fine Line he suggested we go for a drink at a nice bar nearby playing jazz (brilliant and thoughtful idea on his part). I had a very fun night. We were never lacking for conversation and he was very kind and conscientious. He held doors, took my coat, etc. Boy is it nice to have someone sort of looking out for you. It was very refreshing. I think we'll go out to see music again. He's very active in our local music scene.
I'm planning on going to San Francisco early next year (Feb/Mar). It's been a couple years since I've been back and I'm dying to go back. I'm planning on renting a car so I can get out of the city and head north up the coast to visit the Redwoods and maybe Napa Valley. At this point I'm planning on going by myself. I think I prefer to be on my own when I travel to SF. I think the trip is therapeutic and centering for me. I just love it there and miss the city very much. I am very much looking forward to my visit.
